Thailand NBTC Certification

Thailand NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) certification is the mandatory certification by the Thai National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission for radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment.

NBTC certification requires products to be applied for through a Thai local agent, and the NBTC ID must be displayed on product labels after certification.

Thailand NBTC stands for "National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission." It is a typical government regulatory department with administrative enforcement authority, similar to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is the regulatory authority for telecommunications products and telecommunications networks. From July 1, 2008, the existing mandatory regulations for mobile communication products were expanded to cover all wireless-related products for telecommunications equipment and terminal equipment. Generally, wireless products such as mobile phones exported to Thailand must obtain NBTC certification before they can be sold in the local market.

Class A Approval: Products must be tested at NTC-designated laboratories and submit data required by NTC to obtain a registration number and certification.

Class B Approval certification process is the same as Class A, but can use foreign reports such as FCC, CE, CB for conversion certification application. A registration number and certification must also be obtained.

SDo C (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity) certification is a voluntary mode. The customer's Thai local representative fills out the SDo C form and submits it with technical documents to NTC for filing.

NBTC certification testing can reference FCC or CE RED reports. Class A devices require testing at NBTC-authorized laboratories; Class B devices can be self-declared.

Certification must be submitted through a Thai local representative, with a typical cycle of 2-4 weeks.

The new product certification label draft introduces NBTC electronic labeling (E-labeling) and changes NBTC labels from free to paid. (All labels must be purchased from NBTC and cannot be self-printed, costing one baht per label.)

1. Provide product manual and user guide.

2. Customer fills out the testing application form and provides product documents.

3. Confirm testing standards; arrange pre-testing.

4. Product rectification and arrange testing.

5. Testing completed, arrange draft report issuance.

6. Customer confirms report information, confirms OK, issue stamped report.

Thailand's wireless certification typically accepts FCC or CE test reports, but requires a local agent to submit the application.

Certification cycle varies by country and product type, typically 2-8 weeks.

We recommend confirming certification requirements during the product design phase to avoid modifications later.

1. Normal voltage standard: 220V 50Hz/60Hz; if a plug adapter is used, it must comply with IEC 60065, IEC 60950, or the new standard IEC 62368. The plug adapter must be a 220V-240V 50Hz/60Hz European plug; if it is a desk lamp, the rated voltage must be 220V.
